Help

How do you stop drinking every night. I live alone and crave the taste of Canadian whiskey.
I went into detox for 2 days a few years ago and was sent home since I did not have symptoms of addiction.
I tried. AA, but I live in Akron, OH, the home of The AA founders and meetings are humiliating rather than helpful.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi Bobcat
You'll find a lot of support here

have you tried other groups?

There's many different approaches and methods of recovery around - here's some links to some of the main players (including but not limited to AA):

I recommend you visit the Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach.

Welcome to SR!

I could tell you how I stopped drinking every night, but it might not be the right way for you. There are numerous paths to sobriety, and everyone responds differently to them. Fortunately, they are all explained somewhere on this forum, so you just have to read around for a while and you should come across something that seems like it will work for you.

Then, try it out. You'll find something here that will work for you.

Good Luck!
