Re: need some help and comfort

Thank you to everyone who has written back and spoke their words of encouragement, it really means the world to me. Maybe this habit of mine won't be as hard to kick as I thought it would be, especially with a support group like you guys. I only got on yesterday, and already I feel a whole lot better, like a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I look forward to speaking with you guys alot on here. Thanks to you guys, I have no interest in drinking tonight when I go see my friends. To tell the truth, it actually feels pretty good. Thanks

Re: need some help and comfort

It's all good King. Saturday night is a big one you know! Be honest with yourself and those around you. Above all, remember that for an alcoholic, whether you define yourself as one or not, one drink is too many. I remember campus life... twenty five years ago...(has it been that long!), and the pressure to drink then was the same as it probably is now. So grab soda dude! And let us know. And hey! What did I tell you about the day shift!

Hi King ! welcome to SR You have found a great place !

Congratulations on your decision to stop drinking .

My name is Lee , alcoholic, and I live in Australia. I too was a binge drinker , for 37 years , I now have 6 1/2 months sober , I chose AA as my method of recovery , and it has been amazing !

It only gets better

Re: need some help and comfort

Hey guys, just wanted to let ya know that I went out last night and brought a bottle of water with me and just kept filling it up all night. It wasn't really as hard as I thought, although there were a few times I just wanted to throw my bottle of water across the street, grab a cup, fill it from the keg and play games w/my friends. It's kinda strange that the reason I didn't do it is because of the people on here, and we've never met. To me, thats some pretty powerful stuff. Work this morning wasn't half as bad without a hangover, ha. Thanks

Recovery is not hard when you DON'T feel like drinking or using; the test is when you DO feel like it. That is where you find out if your program is working.
