Hello, Your starting an amazing journey stick here for help, don't worry about how life's going to work out without drink , that sorts it self out and will amaze you ! Honestly.
Remember the first few days can be difficult so ask for ideas and find some that help,
I drank apple and elderflower juice , or tomato , and being British my tea pot was always hot! Good luck just remember keep on giving up till it works, and if you have any slips don't give it time to start quiting again.
Oh and if you don't like the term alcoholic then don't demonise yourself there's lots of other terms just be sober and life will be its own reward.
John.

It gets better
Welcome and good luck. I am dealing with a relapse and have been sober for a few days. What you are feeling is normal and gets better quickly. I was sober for 5 years after being an raging drunk for more than 10 years. Those 5 years were the best of my life and the things I was able to accomplish were absolutely amazing. In the last year I have lost it all but know that by staying sober I can rebuild what was lost. Have faith in yourself and that things will get better. Asking for help is the hardest step to take and you have already done that. It gets easier from here and once you accomplish your goal it feels like waking up for the first time. Please feel free to pm me if you like and we can work through it together.

Welcome to a wonderful place need2heal. SR helped me find the courage to turn my life around. I felt lonely too - until I came here and found so many others who were just like me. We're so glad you found us. Congratulations on making this big change in your life.
Welcome need2heal!
Congratulations on your decision to get sober! I couldn't picture a life without alcohol when I first came here but knew it was making me miserable. This place helped me take that first step toward sobriety when I wasn't even sure I could.
Keep reading and posting - lots of wisdom and support here!

Glad to meet you, need2heal! Welcome! This site is awesome. Read as many posts as you can. Come back online and "plug in" several times a day. Really helps. I am on Day 7. You can do this. You deserve to be healthy and happy again.
