90 meetings in 90 days tracker
My opinion on this is not popular, but 90 meetings in 90 days is recovery industry BS. This is found no where in the book. The early AA pioneers had 1 meeting per week. That's it. 90 in 90 is not nearly important to your sobrity as is what you do the other 23 hours a day for those 90 days.
Honestly the things we do and go thru to get our booze and get drunk is astounding, yet when it comes to meetings etc. the bare minimum is more than enough? I certainly didn't drink that way!

Deeker, I think I should clarify a little more. Since the beginning of 2013, the last time I contacted my sponsor was Jan 10th or so. I actually relapsed on prescription pills, and then I managed to get three weeks of sobriety. I relapsed early Feb, and then managed to get a couple of weeks, however, I ended up relapsing once again. I believe my new sobriety date is March 2nd, but I don't really want to count the days since it's depressing. I've been through this kind of up and down cycle in the past. I'm fortunate that I didn't get into any legal trouble this time around, yet I know that if I continue using or drinking, it will happen.
Anyways, the reason why I havent called my sponsor is that I want to prove to myself and him that I'm still serious about sobriety. In my eyes, I dont want him thinking that i'm that sponsee who continues to relapse over and over again. I'm sure it's in my head, but I can't minimize the feeling. It's real.

My sponsor told me in the beginning to go to as many meetings a week as I did drinking (or thinking about drinking) days I did a week.
I immediately said "I CAN'T DO THAT, IT'S TOO MANY !!" .... I had no problem drinkin' those days..., all day.
All the best.

"Following the suggestions" does not mean "limit yourself to them" if 90 meetings in 90 days helps some people set a solid foundation or restart their program good for them!!! The founders didn't have microwave ovens does that mean I can't warm up my lunch in one?
cool. thread. I am 0n day 85 and have been having alot of trouble doing the 90 and 90.. I only went to 2 this week, so far.. I think it's very important to keep going to the meetings, as it seems to add psychological strength, or defense for my recovery, if you will. The more I don't go, the more thoughts of romanticizing drinking and what I am missing out seems to occur. again, this is just me though, and some people don't need any types of support groups for that matter.

Keep on, keepin' on. There's nothing magical about meetings. The program is the Steps -working them with a sponsor and then being a sponsor. The literature, the meetings and all the other happy stuff we do are in place to learn and live the Steps. Meetings have their place. If you sat in the garage for an hour a day how long would you have to do that before you turned into a car???? How many meetings do you have to sit in before you turn into a clean or sober person???? The steps are a portable spiritual plan for living. People who diligently and consistently work and apply them don't relapse. I've buried people who thought the meetings were enough. peace.

Tathagata, it's not from any program. Like I mentioned right after that sentence, it's pretty much me being in my own head. I'm a addict/alcoholic so my thinking and reasoning is not logical.

March 17th meeting: check
I made it through the St. Patty's day weekend without drinking or using. Although I never found it a trigger for St Patty's day, I did use/drink because it was the weekend. It was fairly a good weekend.

hi Recovery1983! i'm doing 90 in 90 as well. my start date was March 3. i've been making one a day since then. i went to a big (like 800 person) speaker meeting/dance this past Saturday. we had a BLAST! it was great to go to a party without a cash bar. well, there was an area selling soda, lol. today i went to an early meeting and had lunch with some ladies. i hope you're enjoying your 90 in 90. i'm beginning to learn names now and see familiar faces. it's not really a chore now. it's just what i do. i really like my weekend meetings because we go out afterwards and do things! keep up the good work!

Hey Displacedgrits,
That's awesome that you are doing the 90 in 90 too. I agree, it's not so much as a chore, but I like to compare it to going to the gym. I need and should go to make myself feel better. I think my first meeting was March 6th. Keep me updated with your progress.
