Don't think of it as being a complainer, sometimes we do need to stop and think about ourselves. What you're doing is venting and getting out all the stuff going on in your head. For us addicts it is vitally important to do this, and as often as we can. Because if we keep everything bottled up inside because we're afraid to be a 'bother' to other people, the negative thought patterns and negative thinking will start and you will think 'about having just one'! When these thoughts come into your mind, you need to shut them down immediately, because if you play around with them your mind plays games with you and eventually you will end up having that one drink, but obviously thats not enough and the whole spiral will happen again and you'll be in the mess you dont want to be in. Dont try to replace your addiction with other things, cross addiction gets you nowhere except maybe into another addiction, but do treat yourself every now and then and the most important thing is to never forget where you came from!! Positive thinking all the time helps, determination and motivation too. If at all possible, make time for meetings! You wouldnt think it makes any difference if you go or not at first, but you can see that you need them more than ever right now! and practise the 12 steps- live them everyday! It works!! Please speak up, speak out and help yourself... A relapse is not worth it and for some, just dont have another relapse in you!! Watch your behaviours and warning signs because if you slip, it might be too late and the reality is that we're playing with death!!
