Step 4 professional counselling
Hello,
I am new to Sober Recovery. I have been on and off with drinking for 3 years now. I have been going to AA and doing the steps myself and in a group but do not have a sponsor.
I am wondering if it would be best to have a professional counsellor for Step 4 as I am so hard on myself when I think back that I get really scared.
Any help out there?

Hi and welcome
I'm not a 12 stepper but, although I've heard about some doing step five with an outside person, I've never actually myself heard that with step four.
I'm sure you'll get lots of input from those members who've done the Steps
D
edit - missed you didn't have a sponsor.
Getting a sponsor is the recommended way

You can find a forum for AA here and subforums dedicated to each of the 12 steps. I bet you will get the answers you are looking for there.

I haven't been able to really work step 4. I have decided I cant without a sponsor. I am only 47 days sober. But I agree that step 4 is huge if worked the way they expect it to be.
I wish you all the best, and I understand what you are asking.
Prayers in our journey through this.!
Peace
