I hope this link to "Face of Addiction" works. It is a work of photography and writings about addiction in one of New York's poorest neighborhoods, Hunt's Point.
The writer says it's easy to ignore these faces......for me it's a good reminder.

clean for yet another day. Gonna go pray for these folks. God Bless!
((Kim)) - Thank you for posting this. I went through a lot of it, before I left for work, and am going back.
Since I'm not "just" a codie in recovery, but also an RA, I "hear" my old words in many of their stories. It reminds me of how desparate I was to end the addiction but didn't quite know how to do it.
Thanks to SR and other support, I can read those words and think "but it gets BETTER if we just work for it"
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

deeker, Your post and gratitude make me glad I posted the link. SR makes it possible for us to touch each other's lives in important ways. Stay clean.....you can do it
Amy, I too go back and look / read it. Makes me wish I posse of SR folks could tag along on these photo shoots and tell them about SR .

(Sorry, Kim - I see now that you mentioned her blog. I was in a hurry to click on the link )
I don't know that I would've ever become sober if I lived in that environment. Their eyes haunt me.

I know, makes me wonder what could break the cycle. Some of the stories make me want to pull my hair out - so stupid....people coming out of detox, with a few day gap between detox and rehab....and , in their fragile state, no where to go but Hunt's Point......DOOM
