16 days into sobriety
My name is Sue.
Today is my 16th day of sobriety. I've been going to meetings almost every day and i feel okay... mentally foggy, but ok.
Reaching out because this is a strange journey which i clearly can't do by myself. I hate that. I'm a very social person and love talking with people but it feels weird to talk to someone about this very deep problem.
I stopped by my husband's office today and mentioned that i didn't think i could get together with friends of ours this weekend because they are very heavy drinkers and frankly they put up with me because they like him. When i'm around them i drink a ton. His reaction was fine, but nowhere near the 'okay, i understand' that i was expecting. It's okay and i can't dwell, but it stings a little. He would say i caught him off guard and it's fine and he understands and i'm probably being too sensitive. Sigh.

Hi Sue - welcome
Sometimes the support and understanding we get from others is less than we'd like...but unless you've been an alcoholic or addict I'm not sure you can really understand what it's like...we can't blame folks for that
the good news is you'll always find a lot of support and understanding here

16 days. I am jealous because I am only on day 13 here.
Struggled yesterday but found a way to get through it by not going to the restaurant that my friends were at drinking beer. Steyed home and watched pro wrestling... what a change.
Congratulations and great job.
Keep fighting the fight!

Struggling a little
Two and half weeks in and i find myself, today, for the first time really desiring a drink. I know it makes me feel crappy and that helps. I believe I won't drink and I should call someone from my meeting.
Everyone told me this would suck and they are right. But i'm proud to be at 17 days!

Hi Sue! You should be proud - this is a very big deal. I'm glad you joined us - you don't ever have to feel alone with your thoughts and feelings. Here, we all understand what you're going through.
Congratulations on your 17 days! You're doing great.
