For the first time in a long time I watched the Oscars sober. Wow.
AND - I was able to remember all the stuff and talk about it at work today.
Now - that was cool.

Clearlight - sober Oscars for me too! What did you think of the show? They really dragged it out this year, too many musical numbers. But I thought Seth MacFarlane was hilarious.

The Grammys.... Said I would be sober or not hung over so much I could not stay up.

Nope.

The golden globes.... I was sure to make that one! Love when the actors can drink!

Nope.

SAG awards... Nope...

Oscars... Nope

Year after year.... Felt like a loser not because I wanted to see them but because each one was a personal challenge to not be drunk or high only to wake Mondays to the results.

I saw the show last night until 10 and taped the rest! I remember it all!

Gotta love that feeling!

Yeah - it's great to remember the stuff the next day. what a change to be able to talk about it.

It did drag. I guess you and I balance each other because I didn't care for MacFarlane. Thought this was the wrong venue for his stuff.


But that's what is good about seeing it sober! I can actually remember the stuff and discuss it. I've 'seen' a lot of stuff - sports and the like and not REALLY seen them. I could only remember little bits and pieces.

How did you feel when Renee Zelwigger (sp?) couldn't even stand up or speak up there. I also found myself looking closely at other participants,"are they drunk?" "Is he a drunk?" I kinda feel bad about it. I have been to enough AA to know "don't compare". Its like a cathartic feeling you know...maybe I'm just an awful person...

Funny you should mention that. I think that's just René. I saw here interviewed moments before the start and she seemed sharp. She looked like she had a LOT of work done on her face though. But I'd sure hate to have folks judging my face over the years. LOL

For me it was good to see Robt. Downey up there looking sharp.

And the female star of Django (Kerry Washington) said in a pre-show interview - "Oh, I'm not a drinker." Made me think of all the folks worried about what others will think of them not drinking. This gal just tossed it out there and that was that - YOU deal with it. HA!

I also remember the little 'airplane' bottle tossed out to Clooney.

I wouldn't feel bad about checkin' folks out. That's half the fun. As long as you remember there but for the grace of God go I.
