Hi I'm New

Hello,

I've tried to stop drinking on my own and just can't seem to do it. I went 4 months some time ago felt great, then I went another month and just binged-last week-feeling very guilty...I watched that movie Flight which was a huge trigger for me...weird a movie about how bad drinking can be made me want to drink....

Anyhow I just need some like minded folks around and different words in my head than just my own.

So tired of being tired, waking up hungover, guilty for drinking, blacking out, wondering what I said, I hate it, just hate it. I mean sick too, shaking, sweating, paranoid, just awful......

Hi,

Welcome to the forums. When you quit drinking for 4 months did you follow any type of recovery program or anything along those lines? It might be worth looking into some of the major players if you find you can't stay sober by yourself. The most prominent programs are AA, AVRT and SMART recovery. More info about each can be found on google. A lot of people have different methods to getting and staying sober. It doesn't really matter what you're doing as long as it works for you. I wish you the best of luck in your recovery journey.

Natom.

I had a hard time quiting, too. I joined here over five years ago, and have been sober for two.
It took me awhile. As mentioned, there are face-to-face meetings that many find helpful.
Come here and read and post, it's helped me greatly.
Think that first drink through to the end and the misery it'll bring. That helps me.

Whatever you choose, and it does take action, I wish you the best.

Welcome NMacq! I think you'll find being here with us very helpful. You aren't alone anymore - we all know what it's like to struggle with this beast.

I drank all my life and didn't get off the merry-go-round until my 50's. I don't know why I thought it was making my life easier or more fun. It was a living hell in the end. With the help of SR I was able to let go of it and begin a new life. You can do it. Please keep posting and let us know how you're doing.
