Able to pick up my son because not drinking

I really appreciate the fact that I can tell my son that I can come and pick he and a friend of his up after a school event tonight because I KNOW that I will not be drinking. Usually I would try to pace my drinking so I wouldn't be "too drunk" while driving...how sick is that?! I like that he can count on me for something for a change.

I can relate.

Isn't it great we don't live that way anymore?

Oh, I know what you mean! Isn't it wonderful to be able to pick him up without all the alcoholic crap floating around in your head?
Thank you for posting this soberclover.

Totally get that. Isn't it liberating to not have that worry weighing you down- before you even have a drink- because you just know where the evening is headed...

Good for you! Good for you! Sorry, but that deserved double praise. I think, no I'm about 99.9999 percent sure that there are a lot of moms like us and that shame we feel is heavy. You can be proud of yourself as you are in the midst of great and powerful change. Good on you!

I went through the same thing with my daughter's during their high school years. I'm glad I could be there when they needed me.

Wish I could go back and do things differently - I drank all through my son's school years. I'm so happy for you, soberclover - you're doing a great job of recovering and enjoying the new you. It's crazy how we sabotage ourselves, thinking we're coping with life better by drinking. Never again.

You should be so proud of yourself...this made me remember of how I go to school picking my daughter with an alcoholic breath, wonder what the other parents think of me when I open my mouth.....this is also creating an uncomfortable situation for my little girl.

Thanks for sharing
Thanks for caring
