Hello all,

I've been a drinker for probably 30 of my 45 years... It was fun and doable for a good many years, but I've known it has to stop for the last five years or so. I'm successful in business, happily married with a couple of kids and there was always a reason to put off quitting until the next New Years or birthday or whatever. I tried half heatedly a few times, but never longer than a week. Checked out AA once, when an old friend resurfaced, clean and sober, and successful in the program. Didn't ring true to me, so I never pursued it. I've been reading up on AVRT for a while and today, I made my Big Plan!
I'm committed to defeating the urge and to retrain my brain. Drinking has dulled my senses and my emotions and my drive. I'm going to reclaim my ability to enjoy life and the ability to focus and feel good.

Welcome - AA once -my experience is that it took me several meetings to find the AA meeting that rang true and certainly took a lot of reflection and study and work to formulate a decision.
