hello from uk
It sounds like you've had a really tough time Teardrop, but the list of things you've tried isn't exhaustive and I am sure you will find stuff here to help you which you can add to the list
I know if is really tough but I think Sasha has a really good point about drinking interfering with your meds. I know as alcoholics we get really impatient if things don't improve straight away but it takes a lot of time and hard work staying sober and handling everything else. I know it seems like your OCD is driving you to drink but I am sure if you get an extended period of sobriety as well as counselling and medication then you will start to see improvements.
When I quit drinking it felt like I really had to force myself and then do everything I could to not pick up again. AVRT really helped me get over those initial hurdles.
SR will always be here for support too, night and day. Have you joined the Class of February yet? That's where people post who have quit this month and it's an excellent place for support x

teardrop,
Check out the AVRT links in the Secular Connections Forum here.
I suspect you could really take advantage of the very direct and simple separation technique that is used in Addictive Voice Recognition. I can hear YOU in your posts, and I can hear your ADDICTIVE VOICE in your posts. They each have very different goals in life. Yours are to become an abstinent human being. ITS is to make sure you figure out a way to keep drinking at any cost. When you learn how to separate them and alienate yourself from IT, you will be able to make some fast progress.

East Riding of Yorkshire CCG
If your GP's practice is in Market Weighton you are part of the East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Care Group.
If you type East Yorkshire CCG into google it will show you geographically how health services (hospitals, dentists, pharmacies etc) are grouped in your area.
It looks like most of your services are in Hull, but there are things in York too.
If you type Hull alcohol services, there is a service where you can ring and they can offer advice and arrange to go see them.
I think if you ring the numbers on the website, they should be able to tell you what services you have available to you and how you get to see the team.
I think, but I might be wrong, you need a referral from your GP in most cases. This is how most people get further specialist treatment - such as hospital appointments or one to one therapy, CBT etc.
They will know what alcohol/mental health organisations you can go to and what help is available.
So it looks like first port of call is the doctors.

Hull stuff
1. Alcohol Project Hull
There is a drop in centre (so no appointment needed) and you can ring them on 01482 320606.
2. Hull Community Alcohol Team,
01482 336950
3.Action for change
01482 321594
They have appointments available in different surgeries across Hull, Branshome, Beverly etc where you can speak to someone confidentially about drinking.
One of these is on Baker street so maybe avoid that one and try the others first. The alcohol project sounded the best imo
Let me know what you find out x

I was/am! in bed right now with my tablet and I have to say Sasha and hypo you have so many good ideas but it makes me sooooo mad that the NHS cannot seem to get it right and make it simple for people in need!
Once you have worked in the NHS for a few years you get to understand how it works - but everyone else is lost in the system.
Dave, I will do some research and get back to you on where you can go - if you could give me a rough idea of where you are i.e 10 miles from York/Hull that would help.

i dont know how anyone stops drinking, i always said ill stop if it makes me ill, (how stupid is that alone, i was getting arrested and jail and court fines, but if i get ill i will stop)
i cant stop
today ive not had a drink, ive had liver ache for ages now, a small burning proding feeling in right side under my ribs
i was sweating like mad all night in bed, soaking,
i still feel like having a drink now because i feel so ****, but i dont want to die of liver faliure
why cant i stop??
last drink about 11pm last night (uk time)
last blood tests were ok but i had liver pain then, it went away the two months i stopped everything, drink smoking etc
it came back nearly instantly
its not crippling pain its just a pain i can feel slightly
but it jabs sometimes, and pricks, as though ive got a prickly rash or something
if i push hard with my hand i can feel the pain slightly more

Hey Dave, sorry you're drinking and having pain, it's a damn tough ride but only we can stop this suffering mate.
I'm on day 3 again and believe me Thursday and Friday were absolutely horrendous. I'm finding the March daily thread a great help. Please join and check in as much as possible.

You bloody well can stop! It feels like you can't but you really can. Is rehab an option Dave?
I had a lot of health anxiety before I quit Dave, hence the name. Believe me when I say you will start feeling a lot better once you've quit. I understand completely about the whole I'll stop when I get ill thing because I did the exact same thing. I was just trying to gauge how ill was acceptable. It takes time and sobriety to get used to looking after yourself again. It's such an odd transition but there is a lot of support out there in the UK if you really want to quit. I shocked myself really. I sat there all alone for years saying there was no hope for me being totally unaware of all the free help that was available, meetings and one on one support, specialist addictions doctors... Please check out what is available in your local area. Sasha posted some good info for you there x
