New here, boyfriend just went into rehab yesterday/looking for some advice

First I should point out that I have so many fears about what is going to happen in the next month, who to go to as a support system, and what will happens when he gets out. Yesterday, I didn't even get to say goodbye to my boyfriend of a good almost year, and I learned from his family that he would be staying there for 30 days in "blackout". They apparently took away his phone and didn't even let him contact his own sister to say goodbye, and it was sprung on him first thing when he woke up to avoid self harm/suicide. I haven't spent a week away from him ever, and I shudder at 4 weeks apart, maybe more.

I have several fears due to not getting to say goodbye, but I'm trying to have a positive outlook.

First of all, I'm scared of rehab romances and that his newly drugless life will pull him toward one even though we haven't officially broke up from not seeing me and assuming I'll have moved on. I'm wondering how different he'll be when he returns.

I'm also unaware how long his rehab will last, because I've had no indication of if it's going to be short term (30,60,90) days or long term (months).

His family said this was his alternative of going to jail for a possession (marijuana) charge while on probation, but it is not court ordered.

I'm wondering if it's possible that he will be incarcerated after he is out of the program still?

I'm just so worried for him because he had no indication or goodbye to me or anyone in his life, and I need some outlook on this.

They also gave me no indication of where he is, I'm guessing to avoid me trying to go and find him. I already know I'm ridiculously codependent on him and addicted to his personality.

I'm sorry you're going through this.

I hope you can make some firm boundaries for yourself that will protect you. You might want to check out AlAnon in your area for support.

Also, we have two forums here for Friends & Families.

He's been an inpatient for about 2 weeks time each in behavioral units also.
