Son with addiction taking care of daughter
I have a 35 year old son who has been an alcoholic since he was 17. He was married and had a daughter, then his wife divorced him over 7 years ago. So his daughter is now 10 and is supposed to stay with him every other weekend. Although he claims he never drinks when she's there, I'm afraid that he is now drinking. They never go out of his very small 1 bedroom apartment over the weekend except to get groceries; he has little money and has lost several jobs because of his drinking. This last weekend he called to say she refused to go out to eat with him and he dragged her off the couch to the stairs and she screamed so he let her go back in. She called her mother the next morning to come get her. Is there anything I should do or even can do to help both of them? Right now I'm nearly 1600 miles away and won't be going back home until April.
Hi, konniek. That sounds quite worrisome. Have you talked to your son about your concern?
