Need Motivation

Hi everyone,

I'm a new member of SR as of last night. Although, I have been reading various forums for about a week or so. I'm 18 day nicotine free and 12 days without alcohol.

I'm still struggling with a lot of thing right now and SR has already become a much needed support system. I really want to focus on getting healthy, losing a little weight, and continuing the progress with sobriety that I've made so far.

Thanks

Welcome BCS. We all understand what you're going through - that's the great thing about SR. No one in my everyday life got it, and I felt so alone until I came here. It helped me not feel so anxious and scared. I found hope and support here, and it gave me the strength to change my life.

We're glad you're here, BCS. Congratulations on your 12 days sober.

Thanks you everyone. I'm going through a lot of ups and downs, but overall I'm pretty proud of myself. NEVER in a million years thought I had the ability to do thos.

Hey don't sell yourself short, quiting cigs and alcohol at the same time is no easy feat. Your going up and beyond the norm, as most alcoholics hold onto smoking for whatever reasons I don't know Im not a smoker. Your life is going to be waaaay better without cigs/alcohol thats for sure. Its gonna be uncomortable for a while at first but each day you get through the easier it will get. Until one day your gonna wake up and be so glad you freed yourself from those toxic vices.

Again, thank you so much. I already feel a small sense of relief from joining this group. It is sooo nice to have feedback from people who know what recovery is all about. I'm kind of a private person, so none of my friend/family know about the extent of my addiction problems (to my knowledge). So I feel as though I'm largely doing this on my own. I'm so glad I found SR. It must be a lifesaver for so many people.

Hey BCS, I'm working on my sixth week. I have relapsed many times in the past, but this is a pretty good stretch. I find SR a great help really. I try to log in and read a few times a day, whether I have urges or not. Just staying with a regular practice seems to help me. Taking on both nicotine and alcohol at the same time seems very ambitious. More power to you! Best of luck and stay here with us to fight the good fight.
