Got prescribed some Naltrexone
I went to the shrink and told them I have been having been obsessing about have a drink and they gave me naltrexone. I could tell I took it about two hours after I swallowed the pill. It made me feel sort of freaky, but I think that is because it is working on those nuerostransmitters- dopamine I think.
Anyway, I don't want to drink. I am sure it is a placebo effect also, but whatever, I'll take it.
I am seeing an addiction specialist tomorrow too. This is a new guy and I told him of my fear of relapsing.
I probably sound like a freak, but I am handling this much differently than I ever have before. The old me would have not said a word to anyone about the cravings, and I would have drank. I am not listening to AV though, because he LIES.
My husband is weirded out because I told him about the cravings. I won't do that again. Non-alcoholics do not understand. He actually acted mad. WTF?
Anyway, that is how I am doing. At least I am sober, albeit slightly kooky.

Elisabeth, my husband reacted the same way and I never brought it up again, either.
I'm glad you are taking steps to do things differently this time in order to avoid relapse. Good for you.

I would'nt tell any of my family. They would come unhinged. I have heard of naltrexone. I have not taken it. I have been on antabuse though. Whatever it takes. I am on my second week of Chantix. I hate going to sleep. Dreams. I must wake up 5 or 6 times a night. My thinking is really messed up and I am tired. Still having those nicotine fits.
