A new start
I cannot express how grateful I am that I joined AA. Lately, my personal life has been out of my control, and it's hard to say way was first - depression, family problems or alcohol. Soon I was in a real emotional whirlpool and I had no idea how to get out of it. I was on the verge of killing myself as I was realizing I had no strength at all to make any changes in my life, moreover, I clearly understood that alcohol had started to dominate it. I was making one mistake after another and my marriage was deteriorating.
I took the phone and called AA hotline (I live in Moscow, Russia at the moment). Right after that I felt very calm and happy. I somehow knew I was on the right track.
And I was amazed by warmness and support of my newly found sisters and brothers in AA and more, how the program works even in seemingly hopeless cases. I saw people on their 5-th, 10-th year of sobriety who talked about the real abyss they were facing before they came to the program.
I want to thank everyone who is helping me now and I hope to help others someday. Right now I am focused on my own recovery. And I understand this is a long process, but I am doing the right thing.
