I am choosing to be sober!
Obviously I'm a bit new to this (considering that I'm posting in the Newcomers Forum) but I hope to find outside support from people that understand an alcoholic's perspective. I know several alcoholics... but none that will admit so, and clearly none that will be helpful in my new-found lifestyle choice.
I hope to solidify my choice to be sober and to eventually be able to aid others who might learn from my experiences.
Thanks

You made 2 good choices today already - choosing to be sober, and choosing to join SR. There is a lot of support here, and you came to exactly the right forum. I am on day 36 but feel like i'm still a very new to this as well, read as much as you can and don't be afraid to post either.

Welcome, Have you found any meetings near you? I know this is a wonderful online group for people struggling, recovering from substance abuse. But if you are truly willing to admit you are powerless over your addiction, it would help very much to explore AA/NA, therapy, treatment.
FYI when you say you want to someday help others, I feel the same way. I find my best counselors are recovering addicts.
But be selfish & help yourself First!
