New Person

Hello all just joined today, I've been lurking for a few days, not sure what to do, but I've come to a decision I want to end my addiction to alcohol, starting THIS very second! I know this won't be an easy road but it is something I MUST do, for far too long I've let it control me and I have paid for it in most dire ways. First all I am 25 years old and I have been a heavy drinker since I was 20, anywhere from parties, to just at my house drinking. I just wanted to know where I should begin. Like do you guys think I should talk to a doctor, because of how long I've been drinking, and I've heard of people dieing from just stopping, I'm worried about that, but I have to do something, my life is in shambles, and I don't know what to do! Thank you for taking time to read this and I hope this is at least a step in a right direction for once!

Welcome, Loki!

Yes, you should talk to a doctor!

A doctor may even be able to prescribe medication to help deal with withdrawal.

Hello and welcome. I would talk with a doctor. I slowly weaned myselfoff of it. Looking back I think I should have seen a doctor. This is a good place to come to. I wish you luck.

Yeah on this it's better to be open . You may get something to help the first few days and at the least you'll have someone to encourage you .
Stay on here and make the right decision you may save decades of problems.
Good luck.

((Loki)) - Welcome to SR, and add me to the people who recommend seeing a dr. I also think if you read around, here, you'll find you're not alone and there are many different ways to recovery, but the desire to stop drinking and take back over your life is the best start!

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Hello Loki,

You are at the right place!

Can you let us know how much alcohol you drink per day?
