In need of a friend... Who do you confide in?
In need of a friend... Who do you confide in?
So, it would be sooooo much easier to just have ONE person to talk to about things! I feel like I'm struggling alone. My husband knows I can't drink but still has the "just have 1 or 2", moments, which I never argue about! and my mom, the only other person who knows the issue makes me uneasy because... well she's my mom!! So. Who do you confide in??? I think in the back of my mind, I'm scared of talking to anyone about things in case I want to drink with them later! Which just proves more that I have an issue... So, Who do I talk to?? Because I def cant do this alone!! I feel like if people knew, it would be easier...
bamagirl,
Good job on checking yourself! We do a lot to protect our disease, I think, with silence. If you need fellowship, can you go to an AA meeting? I have girlfriends from years ago I talk to when I need a chat. If you need to make some sober friendships look for a women's meeting.
And welcome to SR!

If you call an AA hotline, I'll guarantee you they can give you a phone number list of people available to take a call.
It's anonymous and you can talk to someone who has been there. Plus, there is this site:=)
I share all with my husband who doesn't drink, take pills or anything and although it's hard for him to understand, he tries and he doesn't judge. I'm extremely lucky and grateful.
Give it shot. I've called those hot lines several times and always felt better afterward!!
Good luck=)

I need a lot of people in my life to get and give support. The fellowship of AA does it for me, but I also get a lot here at SR. Face to face or the phone is best of course, but the give and take here is what brought me here and has kept me here. Family, friends and my AA buddies all come with different perspectives and approaches. And of course, I confide in my Higher Power as well...
