Day 3

I've done it. I'm into a brand new phase called Day 3. I'm scared to draw attention to it in case it goes away. Getting ready for my week ahead at work and thinking about all the 'No's I 'll have to say. You know the script...some of us are going for a drink wanna come with us...No...There's a private viewing tonight, wanna come with us...No...Come over to mine for dinner and drinks...er...No. My good friends are totally supportive of what I'm doing. The scary part of this is what about my social life? It'll definitely be different. I don't want to put myself in difficult situations. It's too hard at the moment to go somewhere and not drink. I'm sure I'll get better but for now I'm gonna give some things a wide berth. Looking forward to posting Day 4. Thanks for being here forum. The encouragement and words of wisdom I cannot put a value on...it means a lot x

Go meet friends at AA or NA ! You'll find a whole group of people who you can do social sober stuff with!

Keep putting your sobriety first. It is probably best to avoid those places at first, but you do not have to give them up permanently. Some you will find you want to give up permanently and others you can slide right back into as a non drinker. Congratulations on day 3!

Wise in giving everything a wide berth. Protect your sobriety. It's the most important thing right now. All the best and great work :)

Protect your sobriety

Thank you paul99...what a great phrase. I'm going to use this as my mantra..'protect your sobriety'. I've never thought of it like that.
