Never too late to "start again"
Never too late to "start again"
Hi all,
I just logged in for the first time sine November 2011 *ouch* but as my thread title reads it's never too late to start again.
After dozens of times trying to quit on my own I made the decision to join AA and today I took humbly accepted my 1 month sober coin. Wow what a difference having a support group has made over the one month journey and what a difference honesty has made in my life during the short time I've been going. It's night and day for me comparing quitting on my own and now having people that understand and that have been through it.
It is working for me, it is one day at a time and today is a good day. If you're having a tough time trying to do it alone go to a meeting because it can really help. I'm not a religious person, my HP is who I choose and I'm not being pressured by anyone to sponsor me just yet or to do the 12 steps until I'm ready. I am on step 1 because that's where I choose to be right now and that's awesome!
Kind regards and happy sober Friday

Great job on your one month sober, Alva!
I'm so glad you came back here. I had many false starts, but now have 5 yrs. sober. As you said, never too late to start again. This time it's for real.

Congrats on 1 month! I'm only on day 18, but like you this is not my 1st time trying, but it is my 1st time doing it with on open heart, mind, humbleness & acceptance of all the help I can get including my AA meetings & out patient treatment I am. Looking forward to seeing your post for your 60 day!
