Congrats on your 3 days! I also found AA to be helpful when everything else wasn't. There are a lot of resources on here about different recovery methods and a lot of people with different experiences. Just remember, nothing changes if nothing changes!
Hey there, welcome to the forums. I use Narcotics Anonymous to stay clean but there are many other programs people use such as SMART or Rational recovery. The general consensus, no matter what method you choose is that you need structure and you need to work hard at it.

Welcome leeno! Like Pippo, I found that reading & posting here was very helpful. I was encouraged by other's stories and suggestions. You're not alone - there's always someone here to listen and help.
Congratulations on your 3 sober days.

Hi Leeno. When I decided to quit, I knew that part of me believed that I needed to keep drinking because if I could just quit, I would have done that a long time ago. I know that much about the nature of addiction.
I also knew that it was within my ability to quit, just as it is within my ability do other things in my life that I decided were important.
So, I decided to separate myself from those ideas about doubt in my ability and from the urge to drink. Those two ideas were going to lead me to drinking again in the future if I let them, and I said ENOUGH. I deserve a life without this depression and anxiety, without the shame and guilt. I decided I deserved a life with the respect of my family, and with the respect of myself, and nothing was going to ever take that away from me.
If these ideas sound interesting to you, and something that you can relate to, I suggest you look into AVRT or addictive voice recognition technique. There is an active discussion always going on in the Secular Connections forum about these ideas.
So Leeno, believe in yourself and that you deserve this life, and then make the statement that you WILL have it, no matter what. No matter how sad, depressed, angry, disappointed, upset, or tired or lonely, nothing will make you drink again.
I believe in you, Leeno, best to you.
