Epic Fail...

Well couldnt even make it a week...Yesterday drank a 12 pack of IPA. That entitlement feeling got me once again. Woke up in my own **** and just didn't feel good. I was able to workout anyways today but still feel like crap...alot of beer to consume in one sitting.

Back to the drawing board I guess. Not beating myself up...but I can't be doing this...If my wife found out I would be in a world of hurt.

Hi Delta. I finally figured out it was never again going to take me where I wanted to go. Only took me 30 years to get the message. Let's try this again - we know you can do it.

What's on that drawing board, DB, that's different from what you've been doing?

You're already in a world of hurt - you don't need her for that.

What's the plan now? Alcoholism has this horrific routine of lather, rinse, repeat that only gets worse, not better.

All the best

I had to change my sense of entitlement DB...

I had to accept that I was entitled to make good decisions for myself and to engage in things that were positive in effect and not negative.

There's a broad highway open to you right ahead - all you need to do is merge...
I had to accept that drinking was a dead end street for me...

Even the good beer of IPA can get you a really bad hangover. IPA are higher in price and alcohol content. Hope you feel better!

Love me some IPA, and Metallica for that matter!

I swear IPAs lead to "hop addiction". I cant prove it, but I found once I got into IPAs I drank more, and wanted more.

I "failed" more time then I can count.

Woke up, swearing "that is the last time! I am off the booze for at least the work week". Hump day, Wednesday, came up and I justified how good I did for going 2 whole days...then it was some craft beer. 6 7% IPAs go a long way!

Occupy your mind and body.

I have been "playing" guitar for a few years. Bought a new amp on the weekend, and was just learning the start of Seek and Destroy.

If you like metal/rock/music, go get a cheap starter set and start learning. Really focuses your mind.

(drives my wife crazy though!)

Well for one...I can't allow my emotions to control me. I knew that I would be tested that day. I chose to go to the other way...I felt I could do "whatever I want"....I forgot about the regret and the possible trouble I could get in. For lack of better words I was arrogant and self centered...selfish. I felt great those 6 days I was sober. Felt like I was being a good guy. I still feel that I can change and know that deep down inside I'm a good person. When I drink I feel strong in the worst ways. I believe I can say, do, and be however I want to be....I'll drink and then drive to the store to get more beer...I'll steal food from other people....It disgusting how much I compromise my values for this stuff.

DB ,
A lot of us metal heads are sober on and off stage these days . We got the no-nonscence attitude and grunt to take the pain and deal with stuff sober.

You can do it,

Bestwishes, M

Quite common for this to happen to addicts and I believe it always gets worse.

The good news is that once you get and stay sober, those **** behaviours disappeare.

Wouldn't it be great to feel that, *believe that*, without alcohol tho?
