Quitting.

I am quitting drinking because i'm tired and I want to be healthy again. It's an exhausting lifestyle that I just don't need.

Welcome, and congrats on your decision.

Nobody but an alcoholic knows what hard work it is to maintain the addiction!

Thanks everyone! I was not looking forward to this time. I've known I had a problem with alchohol for 8 years. It wasn't just a "stage" anymore. No more excuses. I really don't know what i'm doing! Just not drinking.

It does feel strange at first. I didn't know what to do with myself either. Just take it a day (or an hour, or a minute) at a time, and do whatever it takes. I spent the first few days on this forum, resting in bed, eating, watching TV. It felt like the day would never end, but it did, and the next day I felt a little stronger.

I had to make sobriety my #1 priority. The rest will fall into place.

Be careful! Im not sure the scale of your consumption, but I was a daily drinker for only two years and last time I stopped, I had a seizure that could have killed me if it happened at home alone. Luckily I was at an AA meeting/around people that could call the EMTs. BE CAREFUL!
