Today will be a rough day.
Now they're talking about wine and champagne at the wedding, and mixed drinks.
Ughhhhhhhhhhhh. I might have to take a walk during the reception. Family never drinks, and now they're all drinky???
All that matters is that Im sober, right?????
I'm going crazy already and it's only 10am.
MY COUSIN IS GETTING MARRIED!
I suspected my AV to be dead now. I know I won't drink, but my AV is still chattering at me.

That long 6 hr trip was test #1 Pass! last night, test #2 Pass! This morning, test #3 Pass! Your batting 500 keep up the great work. Be the rebel. Be the one who can actually talk to the hotties w/o slurring and falling all over the place. You can get through this just keep the beast in it's cage.
LOL, that's a mighty fine smirk!
OK, a couple bits of advice for the reception. Keep an eye on your glass. You don't want to pick up someone else's by mistake. Mistake drinking (when it's REALLY a mistake) doesn't count as a slip, but a mistake drink has led a lot of people to say F-it, I already drank. Do not make it possible to accidentally drink. If you do that, it isn't an accident, it's a slip.
Next, practice saying, "just a plain coke, please" or "plain tonic with a twist of lime," or whatever you plan to drink. If someone says, "c'mon, you gotta have champagne for the toast," you smile and hold up your glass and say, "I'm fine, thanks." That's it. No apologies, no explanations needed. If you project confidence I'm betting you don't get asked again (except by drunk people who don't remember what you said).
Next, if you feel like you are gonna explode (or drink), say, "Excuse me, I need some air." Go out and walk around. And if it doesn't help, go up to your room and go to bed. I'm serious. Even if the cake hasn't been cut. Your sobriety is more important, and no one will remember where exactly you were at the critical moment, anyway.
You can also go out and post here from your phone or up in your room.
One other idea, if you are there longer than overnight. There are AA meetings all over town. Call the number in the phone book and take a cab if you need to.
Keep steady!

Our addictions sneak up at unlikely times, and in unlikely places. I have a feeling you will be just fine--all this posting is great. It's sitting alone and listening to your own head that can be dangerous.
So my sister asked me to fill up my champagne glass so she could drink mine too. The lady had already passed by, so I said no. She said "no???" I said "I don't even want it near me."
I SWEAR she rolled her eyes at me!!!!! Why would she DO that??? :'(
Lady asked me twice more if I wanted champagne, I said NO. She went "awwww really?" I turned around and curtly said "yes. Really. Diet coke. Please."

Drive safe!! If your going to be driving in the rain, stop at a gas station and get some Rain X!! You won't need wipers, the stuff is amazing!! Driving in the rain and snow wears me out!! Vegas sounds wonderful!
AWESOME!
Your sister rolled her eyes because she doesn't get it. It's OK, YOU do, and that's what counts.
And the server isn't doing their hotel any favors by trying to push champagne on people who say no. Potential liability and all that--not everybody is as well-prepared as you to say no.

Great to hear you were perpared for this situation. Was thinking of you this afternoon while working. Throwing out a little prayer for ya. Stay strong and most of all try to have a good time. let us all know your okay, ok?
I'm doing well. Didn't drink any alcohol and the only thing they served anyway was champagne.
Tonight, we'll all be going out. My cousin who got married, rarely drinks, but always drinks when she comes to Vegas. Same with my sister. Not a lot mind you, they're not alcoholics. Anyway, I hope I won't feel out of place later.
