Doing the 4th step- ideas on format?

Hi- I am gratefully coming up on a year clean and sober and have a sponsor and go to AA and CA groups. I have been making notes (writing stuff that I did or was done to me) and know how I feel and more or less what I think happened but feel totally overwhelmed by how much is there. My sponsor says just write and be done with it. Man -I want to (I think. . . ) but am stuck in the actual "where and how to start" Any shared insights would be appreciated. As it is in Big book is so succinct it doesn't seem to be working for me. Am I missing something? Format or approach would be helpful .Thanks for being here!

Hi Healer.

Have you visited the Alcoholism-12 Step Support forum we have here?

I'm sure there are a lot of members, posting there, that will have great information for you.

Clear and precise directions are in the Big Book. If you need further clarification on that method and your sponsor cant help, google search Joe and Charlie's 4th step work sheets and download their BB study from xa-speakers.org. THey are true to the book and make it pretty simple.

Best wishes to you!

I used the NA step working guide. It goes step by step with short readings and questions. It helped me a great deal. I did the AA work sheets with my first sponsor and I really couldn;t make sense of them. I felt like I was trying to do some of the confusing work sheets back in primary school.

i know they are considered simple and straight forward by many, but I simply could NOT get anywhere with them.
