Hello
My name is phil
i'm new to this so bear with me.
I'm an alcoholic and i need help
i've been reading some of the stories here and can relate to a lot of them.
I'm all alone with this horrible disease.
I'm just sick and tired of always being sick and tired.
I'd appreciate any ideas, help, things that have worked to help others.
Thank you all
Phil

Hi Phil, welcome!!!!
Well, maybe start with your doctor. Do you need help withdrawing? It is life threatening to stop suddenly if you have been drinking with regularity.
I go to AA, but there are many other ways to go. I like it because I identify with others there, and there is a concrete plan to follow. The support is amazing.
I have an appointment with an addiction therapist next month. I have been to one before and it really helped.
I have 110 days today (AGAIN) You can do it too! Try not to do it alone. Post here, you will find A LOT of support here. People are awesome.

Welcome to SR Phil
Have you tried getting help to quit drinking before? This site really helped to inspire me to quit so I am sure it will for you too. Read around and see if anything clicks with you. I joined a 'Class of..' thread too when I quit and gave me support and helped keep me accountable. I'd recommend going to an AA meeting too. It is a great place to get face to face support from people who really get it and you can learn a lot there.
Glad you're here x

I went to my Dr to start the process of getting help
he gave me some numbers to call. I'm kinda limited because i don't have much money.
Also, the idea of going to alcoholics anonymous meetings just doesn't seem to fit (but i could be wrong)
I dont have any withdrawls or shakes
I'm just sick of being ashamed or humiliated
Waking up sick, being red faced some days.
Drinking in the mornings Terrified someone will try to talk to me and my voice will be slurred
It seems like the solution is easy, Just don't drink
Every day it's "today's the last time and i'm done for good"
I don't know how i ended up like this.
Thanks for all the support and ideas

Good for you for taking charge of your life! There is a lot of support and suggestions here from people in all stages of recovery. The solution is in fact easy....don't drink. Living life without drinking is the challenge but it is worth it!
to the family! I see an addiction counselor (tho not as often as I used to) and visit SR daily. It's kept me sober for three years now. I also strengthen my sobriety with gratitude every day. It's amazing how the urge to drink went away when I started being grateful for all my blessings.

Digitalphil. Trust me, you're not alone with this disease. Good job discussing it with your doctor. BTW, I'm not really a group person myself, so I really like this SR approach. But, if SR isn't enough for me, it's straight to an AA meeting for this guy. I've had it.
