I've thought of that also. I think I read somewhere that the more temperate climate in the UK has something to do with the Gulf Stream in the Atlantic(?).

Like you, we here in Maine measure our snow in feet too. In addition, it seems as if we often get your cold spells a couple (or so) days after you guys. Didn't you just get a cold snap about 4 or 5 days ago?...

...Because we have it now, but I'd happily send it back if I could. I had -5F here this morning and just think, this is only the beginning. It's not unusual for us (and probably you too) to see -25 at least once each winter. That is approximately -35C (for our friends across the pond).

Ugh! Dreading it!

To all those in the UK--enjoy the snow and drive carefully!

We don't get much snow in the San Juan Islands--this has been a fairly mild winter with just a trace of snow. But just 40 miles from here is Mount Baker, which is one of the snowiest places on the planet and got 95 feet (29 meters) of snow one year.
