One month sober!

Hi!
I used to go on here alot last year, struggling to keep sober for a couple days every month.. Now Ive started a new year, a new me.. Ive not touched a drop alcohol since new years eve and I don't even feel need to drink anymore... I want to thank you all who supported me in here earlier.. I would like to stay on this forum now too as ive managed to go through the hardest part...

That is lovely to hear, Sophia. I also waited for a bit of sober time before joining this site (why, I don't know, shy perhaps). At any rate, glad that you are doing so well-----Rick

Thank you, yes maybe it was easier not to talk to much about it.. I dont know.. Felt like I just keep thinking more about alcohl the more i talked about it.. Now I feel "calm"

Good for you! Me too. :-) Sober since December 29th. Was sitting in an AA meeting at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve.

Me too - it felt good to wake up on 1st Jan with a clear head rather than a terrible hangover. I gave up in December and really happy that I did. I wonder how much alcohol I would have got through, how much money I would have spent, how many mornings I would have felt awful, how many dumb things I would have done and how many important things I would have ignored if I had still been drinking heavily 4-5 times a week?

A few weeks of not drinking really helps put things into perspective.

Things I have learnt:

Alcohol did NOT make me relaxed - it always eventually made me more stressed
Drinking stopped me doing and enjoying so many other things
Drinking did not make me wittier, wiser or cooler...
I do not need alcohol - and can see clearly now that i never did, despite what I had convinced myself for so many years...

I didn't join untill i was about 9 months sober ..

Congratulations on your 30 days. :day1 It is widely considered to be the hardest 30 days in a person recovery. Just remember to keep it going one day a time.
