2nd Meeting
2nd Meeting
Well, I went to my second meeting tonight. Made it ontime, lol. Small group, 7. We talked and talked and talked, I even said more than I would have...
4 of them were there last night and said they would be there tomorrow.
I guess I got temp-sponsored, because after the meeting, he pulled me into the coffee room and gave me a 'Big Book' and told me what to read for a 'real' sponsorship. I was floored. He said, "most don't come here on their own, you need this". And this is true, its a really small town and most are there for probation/adjudication. I actually enjoyed the experience. I am looking forward to tomorrow. Weird (for me).

That's exciting to read, WH. You came and opened up and someone extended a hand to help you if you want it. I know what you mean by the weird anticipation. In a way, thinking about my next meeting felt like I used to feel at the prospect of a drunk. Feelings of relief that my struggle against how badly I felt would soon be over.
Excellent start.

Great news!! So happy for you! I was given a big book my first night at a meeting too.. Keep up the good work!! I started with a small group but have tried some other groups and times.. It's really helping me and I've met some amazing people..
Good going, Water (and nice avatar...)
We talked about "tools for recovery" at last night's meeting in this small town.
One guy suggest two tools: a white flag (for surrender) and a jackhammer (for moral cleansing). I hope you're handy with tools (that Big Book you got there is pretty heavy--let us know if you need some user's tips).

The old priest that ran the rehab I attended in the beginning said I had to develop "bones". A head bone... a back bone... and a funny bone
All the best.
