Wanting to be sober
WElcome to the family! :ghug3 There are lots of ways to get and stay sober: AA, other programs, counseling, this site - lots of ways. Try them out until you find what works for you.
I know that feeling of impossibility. I couldn't imagine life sober. There was a time in my life were I just didn't care if I was a drunk.
But, alcoholism is progressive, and things got much more worse as I continued on the path of self destruction.
I hope you never reach the lows that I did, and they went on for years. Years and opportunities all wasted to king alcohol.
Do whatever you need to to stay sober. Please. I don't wish my misery on you or any problem drinker.
Welcome to the forums, and feel free to post as often as you like. We're here for you.
You're not alone. Plenty of people here understand what you're going through.
There is light on the other side. Many of us have also gotten a reprieve from alcohol, one day at a time.
You can do it to.

At some point I learned that those thoughts were not real. They were SYMPTOMS of alcoholism. Analogous to someone with clinical paranoia not seeking treatment because then they couldn't defend themselves against all the people out to get them. It's a dumb comparison but I don't know how else to explain it.
Sober life is wonderful. Join us!
