Happy 66th birthday to former alcohol/drug abuser, David Bowie...
he announced a new album today.

Would he be alive if he didn't quit? Who knows, but I'm personally glad he is.

Whilst I am not a fan of his music I possess a great deal of admiration for any celebrity in recovery. The pressure of the whole world knowing about your problem must be absolutely terrible. Fair play Bowie.

I believe he decided to get clean in 1980. He's on record about it, saying drugs and alcohol nearly ruined his life. He doesn't even remember the recording of one of his greatest albums, Station to Station.
