Nice to see you again Spen!
I often mention your thread when replying to other newcomers.
I think I called you a hero in one post!
But you are to me.
I remember your struggles, your unhappiness, the problem that drink had caused and yet look at you now 2 years! That is flipping amazing!
How's life, how's the kids?
That second year seemed to fly by!

Blinkin' brilliant!
My eyes are falling out of my head.
I just read the entire thread.
I have followed your progress all along. We are around the same time.
Don't know why, I never commented.
I am absolutely delighted for you.
Well done, really and truly, well done!
Quite honestly, should be required reading.
We do recover!
We do get well!
We do, we do, we do.

Dee could you change the name of this thread please? People will recognise it as mine.
Anyway update.
Two years have passed since I threw the towel in with the booze (and stopped smoking too). I used AA quite a lot for the two years but never really got involved with the steps. Im very pigheaded and stubborn and still clung on to that self will has a big part to do with it. And now I am even sure. With that I have decided to just go to AA once a week now so that I can start to explore other things I want to do. The meetings get in the way and I tend to think that I do not need them. Especially when some of the things said nearly make me sick/laugh. I willl not bore you with them.
Now Ive been told "you will drink again now!". Which I know for a fact that it just spurs me on even more not to drink, to prove these people wrong. The meetings will always be there for me if I need to go back.
In the two years off the drink, I have ran 3 half marathons, 10 marathons and 2 ultra marathons of 35 and 50 miles in distance. For this year I plan 4 ultramarathons of 40, 52, 62 and 105 miles in length. I also plan to do a mile open water swim and maybe some kickboxing. This will take a lot of training and rest so another reason why AA becomes what it should be a bridge to normal living.
I am single again, the lady I was dating was not right for me and we had nothing in common and to be honest, unless the one comes along i am quite happy single for the time being.

Since you are running like a mad-man, lol,
Do it for charity!
Throw on a pink T-shirt and off you go.
I wouldn't take it personally when people say that you will drink again.
It is personal I suppose, they believe you may drink again, but, it is meant in a good way.
Also, do you see that perhaps the running etc is obsessive?
Just throwing it out there.
If only I would get obsessed with fitness and health!
