Do I accept another 30 day chip?
Do I accept another 30 day chip?
I went to my first AA meeting a week ago today. I notice that they ask for people with 24 hours to 30 days to come up and get a chip. I did at my first mtg. At my second mtg., I didn't, but someone who was with my at the first one said, "Go on up. Get one."
So here is my question. I am going to the same mtg. I first attended last week. Do I accept another one? Go up again? I haven't had a drink, so I have 7 days now.
Any advice is appreciated. Still figuring this out.

At our meetings, people in their first thirty days of recovery are asked to identify themselves. So I did this thirty times. "It helps newcomers see that the program is working," and is an early introduction for us to the concept of helping others.
I may not have answered your question. You shouldn't put two quarters in the hat and take out a dollar.
So you get a 24 hour coin for 24 hours, 1 week coin for one week (we don't have these), 30 day coin for one month, 60 day for two, etc. Year coins are marked with roman numerals.
"Do I accept another 30 day chip?" No. If they have one week coins, yes.

Thanks everyone. They explained that you get a chip every day in the first 30 if you want it (I didn't, I already have one.) But they do ask those with 30 and under to self-identify, which I proudly did. To applause. :-)
The leader had 28 years today. He said that people ask him why he keeps coming. He explained that when he first started AA, there were old timers in the room. So he wants to be there, in the rooms, for us new folks.
