To those of us who have tried before, many times...

Saw my younger brother for the first time in a few years at Christmas. He told us he has not touched alcohol for 2.5 years now. Said the last time he drank he was so incredibly sick from it, he never touched it again. I asked him if he had tried before, and he just looked at me and literally laughed. He told me he had tried HUNDREDS of times. The last time was the clincher, and he never, ever looked back. He still meets friends out, they all know the deal, and he drinks cranberry juice and tonic. He looks and FEELS great. So for those of us who keep trying...there is hope. :nyad :nyy :nyag

Thanks for this positive post Christie...made me think of my AB who I saw over Christmas and who looked at least 10 years younger!

That's Great. Amazing things are possible when we finally throw in the towel of our hopes of ever drinking successfully. When we finally let go of the corner of that towel we were clinging to... a new life is possible. It's a great story.

Good news! We don't all get it first time. I was the same. Struggling on and off and on and off...
For years lol

Well done him. Thanks for sharing.

Stu.

I was a chronic relapser. This time something is different. I want it so bad. I am tired of the roller coaster.

I love stories like you told because sometimes we forget that there are others like us!

I love your story. I am often so sad that it has been so hard to me to be consistent. I'm glad that it's possible.

Never give up giving up...and I don't believe you ever 'lose' the knowledge you gain in sober time.
I do think there is something to learn from a relapse...time to re-evaluate what is or isn't working for you.
But never give up. The rewards of being sober are worth every bit of the struggle x
