Ever wake up, and for a few seconds worry that you drank?

And then experience profound relief that you didn't? That has been my experience the past few mornings. But I am indeed waking up sober. And supremely happy that I am becoming healthier and stronger for me and my family.

The difference with my sobriety this time is that I am actively working a program of recovery, and giving it the place in my life that it deserves. That I deserve.

What a difference. Good morning good people.

At 4 months sober I still "occassionally" have drunk dreams. At first I feared them, now when I dream them, I wake up thankful...with the reminder of why I don't want to pick up a drink again.

Those dreams scared the hell out me early on...But like the rest of the discomforts of early sobriety...They too shall pass...Keep moving forward C4G!

Yes, quite often at first. Less and less as time goes on.

Yes I have, but I like those dreams, it's a safe reminder of the horror I'd feel if I did drink.

It's only happened 2 or 3 times, and when I've reflected it's been when I've felt particularly anxious about something.
I find them really unsettling. It just reminds me why I can never go back!x

The first time I got sober I would wake up and the first thought would be, "how much poop am I going to feel like today" then second thought was, "oh wait you didn't drink yesterday, silly". Granted for the first month or so I woke up feeling hungover till all the sudden one day I started waking up ready to face the day (most days, lol)

I have not had any drinking dreams, tho like a lot of people. Which is weird bc in my younger days I did the Atkins diet and would constantly dream about carbs and messing up my diet, lol. Guess my body missed the carbs but not the booze! Mentally it was the same thing!!!!

I wake up afraid of what I did the night before every day. And it is lovely when I can say I'm winning this battle.

Had two dreams of drinking just last night -- don't remember much about the first, but I can still smell the whiskey from the second. It was a very very vivid & obvious anxiety dream. And but yes, I had to think carefully to convince myself that it was a dream, not a memory.

I'm trying to think of it as a useful reminder that I'm just a shot away from blowing my very new sobriety.
