Finally there. What a relief ! Don't wait to quit. Hello everyone. Some of you may remember me from a few posts, in crisis, in denial, in pain. I've read 2 books that brought me sooner than I thought to quitting alcohol forever. One, Under the influence, and the best: Allen Carr's easyway. I decided to quit. I'm so relieved. I'm quitting sugar too. On April 16 2007, I vowed to stop smoking and I never touched the poison again. On December 31, I vowed the same for alcohol. I know it will be easy. The only hard thing will be to fill the alone time with useful stuff. Happy New Year. Dorothy |
good for you DP - I never regretted my decision :) D |
Atta girl, Dorothy! Take it one day at a time. I have found that beyond reading, AA is very helpful. And a lot of fun, in case you are looking for ways to fill in the alone time. Zube |
Good Stuff. I'm glad your confident that quitting drinking will be easy. If it turns out it is harder than you thought, there are lots of resources out there that can help! |
Congratulations DP |
Hi DP, I remember you. Glad you have decided to quit. You can do this. I gave up sugar last year and relapsed, really need to quit again. Any good books or articles that I can read to get into a good mindset. love caiHong |
Good luck with finding some useful stuff and congratulations! |
I think it's great that you're making this decision - Congratulations!! |
Hi Dorothy, Congrats on your decision, this site has been a great support for me. Looking forward to seeing you on here! :) |
Thank you everyone. I find that the best attitude to have is that if you quit, it's irrevocable. You can never go back. And why would you, the tyranny of alcohol, the whole thing. Carr is right when he says alcohol is a trap for everyone, we're just further along the pit. In any case, I will give news once in a while. Thanks so much. Let me know what you all did to fill the time while not drunk to oblivion....;) |
