Symptom Question

Not looking for medical advice at all. Just curious but why when I'm not trying to quit I feel nauseous when going without alcohol and drinking actually tends to soothe my nausea?

Can't say I ever felt nauseous...but maybe you were anxious you weren't drinking...you drink...no more anxiety - at least in the immediate term.

Of course it always came back later...

I read this as you were asking about this occurring in the past - if it's happening now...yeah see a Dr

Nausea is a symptom of alcohol withdrawl.

I used to dry heave from nausea every day until I could take my first drink of the day.

Not giving medical advice at all but anxiety based nausea was the main reason for my drinking. I am phobic about throwing up but the anxiety was making me feel sick. Couple of drinks and no anxiety or nausea. Of course, then I had to have a couple more drinks and so felt crap the next day too. Anxiety can defi cause very real nausea. But always best to get checked out by a professional rather than going on what a sleep deprived alcoholic says :-) And nausea is defi a symptom of withdrawal too (hence the reason I'm sleep deprived tonight!)

Alcohol is extremely toxic to the gastrointestinal system. It may relieve the symptoms temporarily (like an anesthetic), but it's really only making the problem worse.
