Off to my "first" meeting
I am off to my "first" AA meeting tonight! Luckily I have a friend who has been going for over 9 years, reached out to her the other day and she's going along with me.
I say "first" because I have been to one before about 6 months ago but I was in a very different place to where I am now. At the time I was very hungover and hadn't slept and more went to prove a point to my partner! Now I am going because I want to make a change to my lifestyle.
I am still not 100% sure if AA is the right path for me for a number of different reasons I won't go into now! BUt nevertheless I feel very positive at the moment!

Me too. Its that simple..
I just had to be a little bit willing, a little bit open minded, and a little bit of hope..
Biggest thing is open minded, and not to judge or compare.. Just relate. And I had to realize that whatever I heard or was told, was from a place of people really sharing how they stay sober.
I knew I couldnt stay sober on my own.

I think the fact you are willing and open minded enough to try it is a great step in the right direction...Having a friend with 9 years doesn't hurt either. Hope you have a great meeting...Let us know what you think.

When doing something we're a bit apprehensive about doing that ultimately turns out positive for us, that's great.
I think if you begin doing the same thing that's working well for the people you met that same pattern of circumstance may repeat itself often as you go along. Though it may seem daunting at first, taken piecemeal AA's program can be easily done.
Those I met when new in the group I attended who were sober over 9 months now have 31-41 years, or have died sober. Not one has drank or drugged again.
