Having another night where I can't sleep!

Keep thinking where is the fun gonna be in life without drinking?

It will get easier, for me Day 3 was the hardest and then it kept getting a little easier each day. I have 82 days sober today, and SR has been a huge part of my recovery. Keep reading and posting, it is worth it.

Looking forward to hearing how you are doing tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day.....

Drinking wasn't much fun for me in the end. I had a hard time admitting to fond memories even. It just gets less and less fun the more you do it.

I understand the feeling though. Have you ever looked into AVRT before Ste? That really helped me see where these thoughts come from. In early sobriety your AV is gonna be trying everything to try and make you drink again. It gets easier x

The early days in sobriety are difficult and not sleeping is common.

Stick with it,after 3 or 4 days you should start to feel a lot better.

Life is definitely a whole lot more fun sober.

well, 'fun' isn't everything, and I've come to realize over time that some of the things I consider 'fun' cause problems for me that pretty much cancel out the few hours of 'fun' that those things bring.

Early on, it is difficult, but it gets easier and is absolutely doable.

As far as fun, I can guarantee fun and enjoyable activities likely won't fall onto your lap. Life is very much what you make it.

It is going to be hard at times, but I've found it was easier many times than I ever thought it would be. Good suggestions above. AVRT concepts are very helpful-worth reading about. Finding fun will be a bit of a challenge because having fun while drinking has become such a habit. I've been enjoying some hobbies I had way back before my drinking days.

I used to think that to until I realized that I wasn't sure I had fun drinking because I couldn't remember so much about the nights I was drinking. Now I have fun and actually have the memories of it.

My wife told me a few months ago that I needed to cut down, my Dads an alcoholic and I seemed to be following suite.

I cut down but I was just spending my days looking forward to the day I was having a beer and getting wrecked when I would. Like I'd go to a football game I'd get home at 10pm(and would have work in the morning) but would get a drink for when I got home cause I was having a beer that day.

Finding it hard to look forward to anything!!

Birthdays = Beer
Football = Beer
Holidays = Beer
Somebody giving me a beer when I go to there house = Beer
Saturdays = Beer

My adult life has basically been this!

Don't know what to look forward to
