Should I go cold turkey or taper off? I tried cold turkey before and got Librium off my doctor, put me into a situation of I was endlessly tried due to the Librium and couldn't sleep due to the alcohol withdrawl - was hell I don't want to be repeating. if I have to taper off I could switch from 2 beers a night from almost 2 litre bottles of vodka a night, sound plausible? |
I personally think you should talk to your doctor first about it. I know for me I couldn't taper off or moderate my drinking. |
Probably talk to your doctor :). Good luck. |
It's always best to talk to your Dr in my opinion - I believe very strongly that detox is just too tricky for do it yourself stuff. If your Dr prescribes Librium again you can explain your past difficulties. keep in mind - I was exhausted too and I wasn't on meds at all...fatigue and insomnia are both very common. D |
Sounds like your daily intake in high, getting advice on how to make it as easy and safe as possible is the way to go. Can you proper medical advice? It is challenging but sobriety is worth it |
nothing to be ashamed of by asking your doctor |
I tapered and I was tired anyway and still couldn't sleep for a few weeks. Talk to your doc x |
I did a librium detox and I know exactly what you mean about being exhausted and still unable to sleep. I went three days with zero sleep, then I was able to sleep in spurts of a couple hours at a time for a couple days, then my sleeping returned to normal. That feeling is temporary and honestly it's a small price to pay to remove the risk of a seizure or DT's that can leave you crippled or dead. Please talk to a doc. Detoxing, including tapering off (if you're able to do it, which most apparently aren't - I know I wasn't), is not something to take chances with. |
