First Sober NYE (I Hope) Since?
At the end of 1977, age 15, I took the train from New Hampshire to Oregon to see my sister, who got me drunk and high for the first time. The train back on New Year's Eve was crowded with Rose Bowl revelers, and somebody passed around a joint in the lounge car.
One recent New Year's Eve, we were so high we almost burned the house down. The drunken years have flown by like seconds. My wife and I have grown more in the past two sober months than those 35 drunken years.

Surprisingly sober tonight, after going off the rails last night/early hours I just haven't been bothered by drinking today. Hey ho, start as I mean to go on! My mum will be having her booze cupboard restocked in the morning. I should tip it out but I'm so tired now I'm confident it's not going to get a look in. I'd go to bed if it wasn't for my 15 year old (upstairs glued to his Xbox! I'll see him for the countdown then off to bed) so first sober one since 2008 for me.
Happy New Year 2013, wishing everybody a happy and healthy one
