Question organizations for recovery?

When I was a counselor 10 years ago there were several organizations for recovering addicts/alcoholics. I was wondering what the list of recognized recovery programs there are now, besides abstinance and AA?

Hi, Paul. Welcome to SR and glad that you have found us. Posting here is a great first step. To your question, there is AA and its 12 step cousins of course, but there are alternatives too. Here is a short list.

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...formation.html

If you google 'AA Alternatives', there are over 19 million matches. I bet you can add to the list. Conspicuous by its absence from the list above is Rational Recovery or AVRT, for example.

There is an active SR forum for discussions of alternatives to 12 step recovery called Secular Connections.

If you're interested in programmes that aren't 12 step like SMART, LifeRing, Rational Recovery, SOS etc...I recommend you visit our Secular Connections forum
