10 Things That Helped Get You Thru
10 Things That Helped Get You Thru
Hi. I'm new to this forum but have been reading the posts on the site for a few months. Thanks to all of you for sharing. Every post helps.
I'm wondering if you can share 10 things that helped you maintain your sobriety on the first few weeks and months of recovery. I'm looking for new tools to use as I try to quit drinking (again).
For example, when I've successfully abstained from drinking in the past, here are the things that helped:
1) AA meetings
2) reaching out to sober friends for support
3) exercise
4) books ("Drinking, a love story" by Caroline knapp and "Night of the Gun" by David Carr are good ones, any others I should know about?)
5) the occasional O'douls
6) Apps like isponsor and sober recovery. Others?
7) writing in my journal
8) herbal tea at night (instead of whiskey!)
9) talking to a therapist
10) call of duty!
How about you?
