Day 21

Well, today is day 21 and while I am proud of myself for getting here, I must admit I'm in a bit of a funk today. It's not so much that I feel like drinking, although the idea is still appealing to me. Maybe it's the weather or all my friends getting excited for a news year's eve party while I'm trying to come up with a way to avoid the whole thing. Luckily I'm leaving tomorrow with my kids to go see my family in NY and will probably stay until new years day. They know what's going on so I think the change in scenery will do me some good.

Everyone who has been sober a while keeps telling me how "wonderful" it is. I believe that it can be one day, I just wonder how long it takes to turn that corner. More than 21 days I suppose... thanks for listening.

I think it's good to remember we drank for years, or at least I did...it takes a little time to recuperate from that.

Don't lose heart - things really do get better

Well done on 21 days!

I was up and down for a while, but things got progressively better all the time. And sometimes a funk is just that. Even sober people have bad days. Sounds like you're doing really well x

Congratulations on your 21 days. I think what you're feeling is normal. Early on, we're healing and getting well - be patient with yourself. It took me a couple of months to begin to feel upbeat. You are doing great DFU.

Enjoy your visit to NY - we have about 16" here in Central NY.

Hang in there DFU, life is full of ups and downs, at least now you can live through them instead of around them! Wishing you the very best!

Good idea to stay away from friends around New Years, until you can feel that youcan handle yourself.

21 DAYS is pretty darn good this time of year.

As it is said. It gets better as you get better..

We alcoholics love that instant gratification, so we think by putting down the drink everythign should always feel great...

For me I drank decades each day. So it was and is going to take a couple years to be super grounded..

Good going on 21. I still felt like do - do at 21. I had an excruciating headache for the first 4 weeks. It was a bummer but at 2 months and 2 weeks I can say that it is over. I never want to go back to that again.
