Yazzz (the name I gave my AV) is screaming at me today that I will be okay if I just have one. I know it is a lie, but I am having a really hard time fighting it. Not being productive at all at work. Spend most of my morning surfing SR trying to fight off the urge to go across the street and get something.

I can't believe I made it through the holidays and now I am tempted to fall off the wagon. ARGH!!!! This ...... (insert your favorite profanity here!)

I often think its after a major event that the toughest times come. It's like we put all our efforts into coping with whatever it is, and then we relax and take our eye off the ball. Actually the AV often tells us that we actually deserve a drink to reward ourselves for staying sober....how crazy is that?!

Whilst I don't call it an 'AV'. I do have an addict sitting on my shoulder a lot of the time. And we get into fights often. She has won before but now I tell her where to go. Assert your power Mittens and tell your AV to jog on and do one (that's British for 'Kindly leave me alone)

Thank you all - I needed a little support to get past my stupid Yazzz. I just took a walk around the block in the sleet/freezing rain we are having here. I did not go to liquor store and, if nothing else, at least now I am cold!

Hang in there you are doing GREAT just make it through another few hours and go home and reward yourself with a nice cup of tea and a movie/book or whatever. I KNOW it's really really hard but you CAN do it.

Stick with it Mittens!

Went to a lunch at my brothers house and the booze was flowing and after a couple of hours saw an argument blow up between two people had been putting it away abit (and had been since Friday last week) and thought to myself, your both pissed, have slightly misunderstood each other but you're both so fried from lack of proper sleep and booze that you don't recognise the simple misunderstanding and are now treating this as a serious personal attack.

An object lesson in watching rationalisation at work in the drunken brain!
