Honk Here if it is your first sober Christmas!!
Honk! Beep! and a bit of grinding metal sound too.
Yeah first sober christmas in atleast 10 years.
At home with parents, sister and her husband. Plus my mad auntie.
Dad is also going to be sober.
Not sure how to deal with christmas dinner without alcohol but I used to just fine as a teen so
it's possible. Gotta bring some sugar free soft drinks. It's going to be weird but right. Will bring games and movies and books to distract myself
in case I get urges.

I cancelled my trip to visit my mom last week because I have never been sober in my hometown and did not want to deal with the stress of that combined with the stress of her!
They say it is better to give a resentment then to get one. By canceling my trip, my mom may resent me for a while, but I'd much rather that than me going there, resenting her and then drinking or using another substance because of it!
She was hurt, but she will be okay and she wasn't remotely as upset as I thought she would be.
Canceling my trip was the best decision I've made sine I decided to quit drinking!

This is my 1st sober christmas, and for the 1st time since I was a kid, I am enjoying the season! My family is actually glad to see me now, and I dont see that disappointed and pitying look in their eyes anymore. Its only been 10 months (as of today!) but I see the promises coming true every day. And they see the difference in me. I walk around with a smile on my face now and mean it. And the fact that I get to be with my family this time of year, and that I get to ENJOY being with them, is amazing to me.
Honk honk!! Into my week 4 of sobriety and so looking forward to my first sober Christmas ....hmmm.... in like 30+ years. I feel great, like my brain is slowly surfacing from a bad dream. My cravings are going away, and life without alcohol doesn't scare me anymore. Made it through two Christmas parties already -- one more this Saturday to go. Got my stash of diet ginger ale to take along - ha ha.

This is my first sober Christmas. I had about a month around this time last year and gave in to the demons in the holiday season. This Thanksgiving I took it easy, celebrating before the day and having a relaxing and movie filled holiday. My family is celebrating after Christmas this year because my siblings have things to do with their inlaws on the actual day. I don't have inlaws anyone (happy dance!) and will be doing a movie day again. I will be babysitting my nephews for New Year's Eve so that will keep me busy. I am very excited for this holiday season. I have so much planned; last year I planned drinking the day I got out of work and was drunk/hungover for two whole weeks for my Christmas Break.
