Picking up my NEW car!!!!!

This would not be happening if I was not sober.

I haven't driven in two years. My license was suspended for one year but it took me another year to get my crap together.

I am so excited and nervous. I can't drive it until I get the interlock and my provisional license. A friend from AA is going to drive it home with me.

SO EXCITED!!!!

((Elisabeth)) - YIPPEE!! What kind of car are you getting? We want pictures, you know I know when I got my car, some time after being in recovery, it was pretty darned amazing. A car was something I just took for granted, all those years...now it's one of the things on my gratitude list

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Congrats! One of my good AA friends in recovery had such an alcoholic solution. 6 DUI's so the solution was not to quit drinking it was to quit driving. Did not drive for 12 years but continued to drink. He has been sober for 4+ years and for the first time has an unrestricted license.

Things get better when we get sober

Oh wow congratulations Elisabeth. I lost my first and only car through my addiction and have been itching to get back behind the wheel of my own since I entered recovery. I have driven company vans and the like but never my own. I hope you enjoy it. When you sort your license out.....roadtrip!!!!

You betcha. How in the world I managed to drive under the influence thousands of times without getting in an accident is one for the history books. I never gave a second thought to getting behind the wheel, changing the oil or any of that. Now I look at that car and say to myself I will never drink and drive again.

The last DUI cost me plenty and it was my third. I've learned my lesson.

Thanks everybody!

I am sort of exhausted after that process. It is safe in my garage. I am allowed to drive in my driveway, so I have parked the car several times in my garage

It will feel real when I get my license!
